Re: Car not starting after changing fob key battery

Push the buttons on fob, does its red LED light up? Do the doors lock/unlock?
Fob battery installed backwards or is dead?

Re: Car not starting after changing fob key battery

The light on the fob is blinking when key is pressed. The issue is car is not detecting the key. So doors cannot be unlocked/ engine is not starting. The battery was inserted correctly.

Re: Car not starting after changing fob key battery

Hold the blunt end (not the keyring end) of the inoperative fob against the start button and push it in with it, hold it in for about 5 seconds until the start button changes or lights up, then you should be able to push it again with the fob to get the car to start.
(I think the display screen shows instructions for this)

Then see your dealership about why it isn't working. It shouldn't have lost programming.

Also....Try your other fob, see if it still works normally.

Re: Car not starting after changing fob key battery

I tried this without any luck. I also tried with a spare key which is also not working. None of the lights including the emergency indicators of the car is working.

Are you saying the car is electrically dead? No headlights, nothing at all works?
Does it just have a dead battery?
Did anyone try to jump start it? (Warning: If someone tries to connect jumper cables backwards it will blow the biggest fuses in the box)

Otherwise, If the car definitely has a good battery but won't power up to start, go to the underhood fuse box and check fuses 28 and 29

Re: Car not starting after changing fob key battery

Thanks ezone, it turned out to be a dead battery. Such a coincidence that the car battery went flat when I changed fob battery.
