Re: civic buy?
8th Generation Civics aren't known for Engine knocking
did Your friend scan it for Codes...?
this car sounds like it was abused OR oil & Filter changes were extended
way too Long causes could be anything from sludge in engine to poor fuel
Quality Like Lower than normal octane Gas.? i think You should get a second
opinion.? You mentioned its a 4 Speed Automatic how well does it shift ?
smooth rough? do You notice any slipping? Body any rust? Pics?

Unless Your thinking of getting a 8th gen Civic for cheap...?
It would be a good idea to get a second opinion on the engine.
transmission shifts good You say.? if You buy it cheap make sure you.
"Fix the engine Knock" don't drive it like that for too Long because You
will damage the Automatic transmission due to the Vehicles PCM computer it
will slip the Automatic trans to compensate for any engine rough drivability problem
there by masking a problem. Keep Us Posted On The Buy Good Luck.!

Re: civic buy?
Personally If it were me Looking to buy a used vehicle i wouldn't go that
route ok. on scraping the old tired out engine and replacing it with an old one
from the scrap Yard. even though lets say You find one out there whith
Less miles on it. Just remember one thing," its still a used engine Your
buying Oil changes, maintenece on it are a Mystery.? as far as I'm concerned.?
or worse, what if uses a lot of Oil in-between oil changes.? or theres issues
why not Look at a good used vehicle rather than Honda Yes rather than
Honda nothing wrong with Hondas I just think there reputation &
dependability has gotten to there head as far as pricing goes even used there
pricee compared to others listen we got a 4cyl 2010 mazda 3 for my
daughter over 2 Years ago bought at a dealer with 95,000 km"s "it now has
almost 140,000km's runs excellent I have driven it and love it...! You Tap the
gas Pedal on this vehicle & throttle response is emmediate a lot more livelier
Compared to my Civic. even though its only got 8 h.p. more than mine but
Definatley has the "Zoom-Zoom Mazda claims" that my Honda doesn't in fact
for the next car I might just look at a Mazda 3 possibly a 6, I really would
look at mazda 3 its about the same size as a Civic and its just as reliable
daughters car is equipped with Voice Command Blue tooth hands free,
& USB stick slot, and 2 USB chargers, cruise control and push buttons on the
steering wheel to control the stereo volume & stations actually has a better
sounding stereo system than mine. LOL also has a semi-automatic shift on the fly
transmission that you can use to shift gears like a 5 speed manual I would really Look
at a mazda 3

I've owned a 2007 Mazda 3 2.0L with an automatic transmission (purchased new) and an '07 2.3L manual transmission. Both were very good cars with few repairs needed and fun to drive. After 2010 3's have become bloated and heavy, kinda boring now. The zoom-zoom has now turned into the boom-boom..as in catered to baby boomers and their retirement money..lol

I have read the reviews on the New 2018 mazda 3 GT 4 Cyl 2.5 sedan
with the aspirated 184 H.P. engine and they are very positive.
if i were to get one it would be the 6 speed Manual

Re: civic buy?
I have a friend who owns a Civic Si and he is very happy with it. It's the 2017 model. But I think there is a strong argument that the next Civic will be electric. May be worth it.

Theres No question Electric car's tecknology will be a lot better in the next few years. were going to see some big improvements in charging times 5-10 minutes is all it will take for a full batt charge and a lot more driving range as well. the way its set up now is 1 big battery sits in the vehicle
that will change to 1 small battery on each wheel where you have the option to turn on or off wich batterys side you want to have on example you can switch it to 2 wheel drive or have just 1 battery on with the others off or all on.. you choose how many batterys and sides you want on. in the next few years its definatly going to be worth it
