Installing a Tow Hitch on a 2006 AT Civic

I am planning to occasionally(2-3 times a year) tow a sports motorcycle with my 2006 AT Coupe.

Any instructions for a good/cheap tow or a package which I can install on it?

Any personal experience or suggestions would be great too?

Thanks for all of your advice and help

Re: Installing a Tow Hitch on a 2006 AT Civic

How heavy is the combined weight of the trailer and motorcycle? What is the tongue weight of the trailer? If the tongue weight is too high or too low you will have a very strange handling car. Civics aren't very heavy and don't have a large amount of tire contact patch on the road both are factors when towing trailers. Is renting a truck 2-3 times per year not an option.

Re: Installing a Tow Hitch on a 2006 AT Civic

I think, weight combined would be close to 700-800lbs for both trailer and the bike.

I am planning to rent a motorcycle trailer from Uhaul. I prefer to have more flexibility, hence looking to tow stuff with the Civic. Trucks are a good option, but can get quite expensive.

Thanks for all the help.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Check your owners manual, see if it says anything about towing and weight limits.
