Yet another "can't get radio code" thread - interesting problem

I have a 2010 Honda Civic that I bought Pre-Owned (from a dealer). Unfortunately I didn't get the radio code when I bought it and there's no sticker anywhere that I can see.

- I copied down my VIN
- I got the stereo SN (held 1 & 6, pressed power, got an 8-digit SN, no U or L, all #s, no letters)
- Went to https://radio-navicode.honda.com/ and entered all of the info

- The site gave me a FOUR digit code that contains a 7 (presets end at 6)

Called Honda and they ended up giving me the same number. Clearly this number will not work.

Does *anyone* have any advice or suggestions before I rip out the stereo to get the SN off the unit itself?

Thanks all!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

You shouldn't have to pull the radio out at all.

A four digit code of digits 0-9 would be for a navigation system unlock. Is yours a navigation system?

Retry dealer again for an audio system code if that's all you have?

Yeah it's just the standard radio/CD stereo, no nav system, don't even have the USB port. Nothing fancy.
