Re: milkshake coloured oil
That's what brings the boys to the yard...
But really, I used to use Castrol Edge for years and I think it looked like regular oil when new which was clear. I might have not thought twice about it being a different color though since it was new oil so...
Was the seal broken? Was it one 5 quart bottle or a bunch of 1 quarts?

Re: milkshake coloured oil
i used that Castrol Edge many eons ago and Yes it was dark.
Castrol oils in general are probably darker than the rest out there
A1,B1 is the normal standard North American oil that most are rated.
try using a (A3, B4 Oil thats high in Zinc ) like "Quartz Euro oil" or
Pennzoil Platinum Pure Plus Ultra.
its a much clearer oil. its what i use in all my Vehicles i no its a bit overkill
but i plan to keep them as long as i can.

[QUOTE=5hamers;4715562]i thought all synthetics have zinc? ,or does only a3,b4 oil?
guessing the pennz is what your top left avatar pic uses.? lol[/QUOTE
Yes all oil has Zinc past oil"s had much more in it until EPA signifitley
reduced it because of Emmisions. today A1-B1 oil has the minimum
Zinc found in it. the allowable amount by North American EPA
standards range from 150 to 800 parts per million 800 is Legally
the Maximum of Zinc EPA allows in North American oil. basically
Zinc coats metal parts in the engine that signifitley reduces wear oils
like "Euro Quartz, Pennzoil Euro" are around 5-6000 parts per million in Zinc
and will signifitley reduce wear.
i would use them myself but unfortanetly where i live
they only sell the Pennzoil Euro in 1 Liter bottles which is costly
to buy compared to a 5 Liter jug ...so choose wisely the avatar pic
is a 2016 Mclaren P1 just waiting to win the Lottery to buy one LOL.!
awesome machine i must say
