Oil Filter for 7th Gen and 9th Gen
I have a factory Honda oil filter from my 2005 that I want to either use or garbage. Does anyone know if the filter from a 2005 DX is the same as a 2012 LX?
Obviously different engines, but is the filter any different? Can I use this one still?
Thanks!

Oil Filter is the same.
I often wonder if the only reason we manage to have oil filters in stock is because they are one size fits all.....

I concluded that their quality control was in the DUMP... Can you imagine if that was in the filter and your using it on your motor??
Fram is no longer manufacturer in the US now.. another cost cutting that failed. ..Fram has lost all my business.
I only use Honda OEM filter now. Cost a little more and get quality filter.

Fram oil filters...I "used" them for years. Until one day while picking up an filter at the local auto parts. I opened the box and examine the Fram filter. The threads had metal shaving on them. I checked several others, they were all the same.

(Follow the links in that post if you want, good reading LOL)
15400-PLM-A02....Filter, Oil (Honeywell)
Stamped on the filter is "Made in U.S.A."

...I run pretty much the cheapest filter I can find, usually Fram or Service Champ.
Because I never go overdue on oil.
The filter is there to collect carbon blowby and burned oil. You're wasting money buying "high quality" oil filters imo. Especially since hondas generally run pretty cool and don't burn.
Unlike most subarus, dodges and fords which can burn 1.0L in between standard oil changes, brand new.

The orginal posters question has been asked and answered at this point. Oil threads are more about brand loyalty than facts and cause nothing but arguments between forum members. If you have something that works for you then great that's not necessarily what works for everybody else.

Re: Oil Filter for 7th Gen and 9th Gen
Kudos stock 99 nice pic...
thats exactly why i stay away from the orange cheap fram filter
i do use the fram XG ultra which is a much better built filter
over the orange coloured one shown. the XG Ultra kind has metal end
caps, synthetic media element, with a plastic anti-drain back valve
Plastic drain back valve .? Yes thats what i said, but fear not i have
enough online proof where many people have gone upwards of 8-10
thousand U.S.A miles and cut them apart to find everything nicely intact with Zero
issues on it. it really is a pretty stealthy made oil filter still better than OEM
in my opinion.
