If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Transmission shifting problems

Clutch fluid low or empty?
Air trapped in the clutch system?
Wrong fluid in the clutch system?

How much clearance or free play is between the pedal pushrod and the master cylinder? (measure free movement at the pedal, compare to specs)
It's extremely rare to need to change the pushrod adjustment. Usually there's a problem elsewhere to cause a symptom like you describe.

I'd use Hondas manual transmission fluid. It's absolutely correct, no question.
