Leary of 8th Gen

Hi guys,
Im looking for a DD. I like the looks of the more modern 8th gen civic but have seen they have many engine block failures. And the older 7th gen had trans failures etc... I just wish i could find reliable info as what percentage of 8th gens have developed the dreaded block oil leak? I want the old school civic that would last forever but had a more modern look and feel. Any suggestions?

8ths are wonderful, (As always.... buyer beware)

Get an 08-11. Honda stepped up on the cracked blocks..... not sure of percentage effected.

yea i noticed the 08's had less online complaints than 06-07... its still a bit disturbing and if i knew the odds of percentages i would feel much better.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Leary of 8th Gen

I'd starve if that were the only problem I had to fix, it's been a few months since our shop did one. In my little corner of the planet I'd guess 1%. Someone working in a larger place might have a different opinion.

Honda extended the warranty to 10 years on the blocks, if the dealers VIN check says it qualifies.
