R18 engine question

Is the R18 series V-tek or not? new owner and just want to know for sure what I have. Honda dealer says it is and off the street Honda guys say it is not. Sorry to ask this question but I am trying to bring my knowledge up to speed.

Re: R18 engine question

not a bolt-on engine performance item related thread, not a 7th gen car either. moving to regular 8/9 th gen section.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Yes it is, but it's not the high performance type VTEC that all the cool kids think they want. This one is used for economy.

Re: R18 engine question

It's technically VTEC but the biggest difference is that it's a Single OverHead Cam (SOHC) for the R18's, whereas the Si's are Double OverHead Cam (DOHC).
