Stripped thread on lower engine mount bolt

Hello,

I'm trying to replace my worn out lower passenger motor mount on my 2007 civic lx sedan with manual transmission.

Like an idiot I fought a little too hard removing the lower most bolt that is closest to the front of the car and now it's stripped and turning endlessly with no up or down progress.

I've tried wedging a screw driver underneath to create upward pressure as well as lifting up on the mount itself but have had absolutely no luck. It doesn't look like I'll ever be able to get some pliers on there and I can't access the bolt from below (I've tried).

Anyone else with other ideas? I'm kind of in no mans land right now, it's too loose to put the car back together again but not loose enough to remove the broken mount. My last idea is to but an e try long still bit and try drilling through. Any other ideas???

Thanks for any help, it's very appreciated.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Stripped thread on lower engine mount bolt

Big 17mm that goes down into the frame rail?
Spins endlessly but did it back out of the hole?
How far did it come out of the hole? If there's still any decent threads it should come out an inch or so.

Power tool, impact, or drill motor with socket while lifting up on the mount?

I have seen the holes in the frames get full of rust sometimes, it may just be rotten. IDK what to fix it, I have not had to deal with any that bad yet.

Re: Stripped thread on lower engine mount bolt

Ya one of the 17s at the bottom.

It only came out about an 8th of an inch. The other one came right out though.

I Tried prying it up with a pry bar from the side (splash shield removed) and a breaker bar at the top. Got a lot of torque on it with the pry bar but it never threaded, it would start to thread but always would end up slipping.

I've been drilling it out for the last hour, waiting for my batteries to recharge before I can finish up. The bolt has maybe an 8th of inch of meat left at the bottom but it still won't come out.

Will probably leave it on the jack for the night then I get to try and re-threat the frame tomorrow before putting the new mount in

Thanks for the reply by the way
