2014 civic cup holder removal?

Re: 2014 civic cup holder removal?
I'd honestly think you probably will have to remove most of the center line.
I know in my 2006 and my friends 2001 both needed to work from the front (under the radio) and remove panel by panel, each one revealing more screws as you remove them.
May I ask why you are trying to do this? There might be an easier way to accomplish your goal.

Re: 2014 civic cup holder removal?
According to this image from the online store (for my 2014 EX)
The ring around the holder is held in with clips(40 & 41), and the holder itself just pops into that ring (as far as I can tell)
There is a screw underneath it though(49), and it is not clear from the image where it attaches, to what it attaches, and from what direction...
Try gently tugging and see what happens? I dunno...your risk!
I personally would probably go the sponge route.
Let me know if you do try to remove it though, that way I (and anyone else who stumbles upon this) can know how viable it is.

Thanks for the diagram, I looked and didn't find it. I tugged on it a little and it didn't budge. I was thinking that if I open the arm rest and get the shifter cover up, I could get the whole #9 off. But I know how plastic likes to crack, so I don't give it my full strength.

You motivated me to make a greater effort. Got #9 off. The cup holder doesn't come out without #9. You have to remove 4 screws from the bottom to just get the cup holder.
What I did was I got a plastic scraper and pryed up the bottom shifter plastic cover. The piece popped up. Then I pryed up #9 starting closest to the shifter, then it comes off. No screws to worry about. Make sure your arm rest is open, not down.
Sorry about my horrible directions. If have a question, just ask.
