Rep Power: 0 Disable A/C compressor shut off "feature"
Does anyone know if there is an after market part or way to shut off the feature in an 06 civic that disables the A/C compressor when you accelerate from a dead stop? These precious 5-10 seconds really causes my wifes car to heat up on a hot Houston august day. She does not care about acceleration power. In Houston in August it is important for the A/C to blow cool ALWAYS. I know this is a feature to provide additional power for acceleration since it is a 4 cyl engine. But wow. It sure makes it to where it takes a lot longer to cool off the car when you are stuck in Houston start and stop traffic.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Not easily, the PCM is programmed to be this way.
There is a software update that may be available for your car to reduce the occurrence of the issue (changes some of the conditions for the cutout), but it will not completely eliminate it due to design.
From this bulletin: http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/thebesthonda/2010-07-26_153452_a07-062.pdf
SYMPTOM
The A/C cools poorly during hard acceleration under
20 mph. This symptom is usually noticed in stop-and-
go traffic.
PROBABLE CAUSE
When accelerating at speeds below 20 mph with the
accelerator pedal more than halfway down, the ECM/
PCM turns off the A/C compressor
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Update the PGM-FI software with the HDS.
NOTE: The software update minimizes the symptom,
but it does not completely eliminate it. The customer
can improve A/C performance by accelerating from
speeds below 20 mph with the accelerator pedal less
than halfway down
