If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Hail Damage?

Look for the paintless dent removal guys. Check yellow pages, ask at car dealers.

PDR paintless dent repair, dent magic, dent free, dent wizard, dent doctor, and the like.
One of these guys visits our car lot once a week, charges a flat fee/per panel for most of his work up to so many dents per panel. Inquire with your local.

Good suggestion, but when we looked into it, most places were $75-100 per dent for this. Considering this has dozens of hits, the repairs would be thousands of dollars. The insurance quoted the repairs at about $7000.

The hail damage is why this car is so cheap (about $3500 under kbb "fair condition"). Less than 50k miles, otherwise good condition.

I am ok with driving it with the hail damage, but just wanted to think through other options to see if there was something creative I was missing. CF looked promising, but more research has shown that it is more style than substance. If I could get 1-2mpg gain from CF, it would pay for itself, but it doesn't look like thats the case.

Not interested in painting new parts, since this will be parked outside it will show the fade difference over time.

Mythbusters did a segment on whether or not golf ball dimpling made a car more aerodynamic.
