How to get more tension on wiper blade?

Hello all,

My girlfriend has a civic. ( I think it is 2009) and her driver's side wiper (the huge one) doesn't have enough tension for the blade to contact the windshield. We've replaced the blade but it did not improve.

Can you adjust the tension on these somehow? Or, can you replace the entire arm easily to fix this?

Thanks for any tips.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Canada? None clear ice very well.

The tension spring is embedded within the wiper arm. No user adjustments for tension unless you can bend that spring.

IMO these seem to work very well with the original blades and inserts, aftermarket wipers seem sketchy sometimes.

I personally have not seen any complaints regarding arm tension, and I can't really think of what you have going on that would make you think an arm replacement would help........

Wait a minute, yes I have. I saw a bodyshop install the arms on the wrong sides of some newer Civic.
And I have seen the aerodynamic blades installed on the wrong sides so the wing shape is backwards.
