i took my car to honda to get an oil change and the machanic quoted me over 200$ for a worn belt and installation. i searched for a belt and they show many serpintine belt which is cheap and then a timing belt which starts from 80-100$

can someone help on getting the right one. im buying the part mysemf and having a local mechanic install it.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: 2011 honda civic lx

An 11 Civic has no timing belt.

The serpentine belt on that car is made of EPDM rubber and should last well past 100,000 miles. (IMO)
Have you looked at it yourself? What condition does it look like it is in?

NOTE: The belts turn brown! They all do it sooner or later, that is not any indication of condition or life expectancy. (IMO)

A cheapo aftermarket belt normally won't last nearly as long as an original. (IMO)

Far as I know, since 2006, there's no timing belts in civics.

Edit: seems both oldee red-zone dogs woke up at same time, heh, ezone?
