2006 Civic Trunk Release w/Car Starter?

Hi,

I just had a compustar Remote Starter installed in my Wife's 2006 Honda Civic. When I "remote start" the car, the Remote Trunk Release stops working, both from the computstar Fob AND from the Honda Key Fob. I was told from the place that installed the starter, that it is a Honda limitation that when the car is started, Honda and Acura cars disable that functionality, and they can't do anything about it. 2 Questions:
1. Does this sounds correct? Does Honda disable the Key Fob trunk release when the car has been started?
2. Does anyone know of a way to over-ride this?

Thanks in Advance!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Let's see if you can answer your own question:
Does Honda disable the Key Fob trunk release when the car has been started?
Start the car with the key, and then try the remote functions.
You should have your answer in 30 seconds or less.

I tried this on my wife's TL. Trunk wouldn't open when the car is started with the transmitter button.

You could wire the trunk release from the remote start into the inside trunk release button as a work around.
