The EX and EX-L trims will have paddle shifters too. Entry level LX trim has a manual option.
Instead of 28 city it'll have 30 city. Unknown if better than the 39hwyMPG of '13 Civics. Depends on if the CVT allows for a lower RPM at the same MPH.
The aerodynamic HF trim gets 42MPG highway instead of 41MPG.
But still the same R18A1 engine that the 2006 Civic has and no auto/start stop mentioned.
CVTs are where the industry is going, the 2014 Carolla has it as well. I'm sure it'll probably be a nice reliable transmission and sporty with the 7- virtual gears. Torque converters are depressing with energy lost as heat and manual transmissions don't belong in high tech cars. Computers that lag throttle inputs to engine output and transmission RPM delays are annoying, but if done right it'll be a nice car.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

IMHO If the Civic gets a CVT that is like what they put in the 4 cylinder Accords, it will drive really nice, feels much more like an automatic (except for that whole shifting thing).
I can't see them going back to the old CVT with a start clutch, but WTF do I know?

More details; 46MPG combined to the 2014 Civic hybrid, and slight power increases from revised exhaust system of regular Civics (along with Si), and maybe a manual transmission option for the EX too (not just LX?).

Now I wonder if there is anything I'd want to adapt to my 12?
