Fan noise when idling? 08 civic

I have an 08 civic sedan going on 95,000 miles about that time to get paranoid about maintenance repairs an stuff due to the 100,000 mile mark . (First honda) so I got no idea when they start falling apart.

Anyways my question is concerning a fan noise I hear when I am idling at a red light or stop sign. (A/C is not on) the noise only goes on for a few seconds an than goes back on a min later.

So if anyone can answer this for me please do...
Much appreciated thanks again.

I can't hear it, you have to help out here.
Where is this noise coming from? Dash? Engine compartment?

(A/C is not on)
Defrost on? That will run the AC too (and fans).

Sounds like it could be the alternator cycling on and off.
My 2006 does this, I assume it to be normal.

At least, I believe its the alt. if it's not then its been happening to me for the last 60k miles and there aren't any problems lol.

@jordan it sounds like the fan noise is coming from underneath the hood, I did research an said its a fan that goes on to cool down the engine when it is 80F (don't know what that is degrees wise lol) outside an it was night time yesterday when this had happened definitely not 80F "/

Re: Fan noise when idling? 08 civic

Okay I found out what the problem is! While idling those two fans below the radiator end up turning on just for a few seconds an come back on min later only during idle!

So my question is why do that do that an is it normal??

That's 80 degrees Fahrenheit.... But it makes absolutely NO sense. There is nothing set at 80 to run the fans, no temp switch, nothing. Period. Someone has bad info.

See if the compressor clutch is engaging when the fans run. OR look at them and see if the fans are switching from low speed to high speed (you can't really hear them when running on low speed but you sure can hear them on high).

Or the engine is hot enough to need the fans to run.... but your time isn't normal at all..
Is the radiator out of antifreeze? Really low? Do you smell coolant, sickeningly sweet around the front of the car when the engine is hot?
Check this ASAP.
