2008 Si MPG

Fellow Civic Si owners, I've had my '08 Civic Si for a little over a year and feel like it get horrible MPG. Suggestions how to improve it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 2008 Si MPG

People don't buy an Si because it gets great gas mileage.

Re: 2008 Si MPG

what do you consider "horrible MPG"? It's only rated at 21/29 city/highway

and x2 on what ezone said. It's not meant to be an econobox Civic.

Re: 2008 Si MPG

The SI is fun to drive and gets great fuel economy too. I've had my 2009 SI for 4.5 years now and average 25 mpg. What do you consider horrible MPG? I have gotten worse than 25 and have gotten more, but in no way consider that bad. Coming from a V6 mustang which was barely pushing 18, I'm more than happy with 25.

Re: 2008 Si MPG

Automatic or manual?
If its an auto then laying off the gas would really be your only option, if its a manual then look up hyper-miling techniques.

But, again as others said, its not built for mpg. My 2006 sedan civic lx I've gotten over 40, but never under 30.(automatic)

Re: 2008 Si MPG

Since it's an Si...has to be manual. I've had my 2008 Si since May, and I get 28.5 mpg consistently. I drive mostly on the highway with a little bit of in-town driving.
