im prob not posting this in the right place but here it goes I bought a 1998 civic lx it has a 1.6l sohc and ive been researching building this car it is a nice ride body wise and motor is clean with only 165k on entire car but I have noticed when looking at parts and things I see numbers kinda like db102 db128 this is not exact number i've seen but can someone tell me how to know exactly what these model numbers mean for the engine and can I actually soup these engines up this is my first Honda and I love it and have always wanted one ive owned fords up until now and since ive bought Honda I parked my f-150. also what generation would my Honda be considered so I post in the right section from now on.. thanks guys

1998 is 6th gen.
Your engine codes are found on a pad on the engine near the bellhousing, under the exhaust:
Then google your engine code, like the top pic example is a B16A, then pick the WIKI link and read all about it. Yours is probably a D16(something something) engine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_D_engine
