display flickering?

Recently the display on my civic's radio started flickering.Specifically on the right side, where the clock is.

I have a 2006 LX sedan, I was wondering how i can fix this & what might be causing it? Seems like the hotter it is the worse it flickers.

Re: display flickering?

You likely have an issue with the audio unit, stereo repair shops are few and far between these days.

It could be a poor solder connection inside the unit causing the problem.

Re: display flickering?

It never happened before, only recently, would this be consistent with a bad solder connection?

Also, by playing with headlights while it was happening I realized that the part of the display that I am having an issue with, pretty much the clock, becomes the same color as the whole display when the headlights are on.

To elaborate, the area flickers between brighter and darker, when it is darker if I turn on my headlights I can see that it is the same brightness, and the flickering is gone.

I'm really confused, I'm tempted to just take it out, then put it back in while checking to make sure all the wires are plugged in tight;maybe something got a little loose over time.

Re: display flickering?

Would you say it is missing some segments of the display...? or something else ?

It has illumination, but only when lights are on iirc.

Do bumps (or a fist bump) make it change ??

Re: display flickering?

No missing parts, just a change in brightness and only where the clock is.
Bumps have no effect, either road or hand.

I'll try to get a video the next time it happens, but for now it seems like it is staying cool with the rain and it has only happened on hot days so far.

Re: display flickering?

Guys, I own a 2002 civic coupe, 1.7l. Recently all of my dash, headlights, stereo, and even the roof light, began to flicker when the car is on. I had HID's and i thought that might of been the problem because it was making my battery only work at 12.something volts. I took them of and its working at higher voltage, but its doing it again and my alternator and battery are fine! what do you guys recommend?
