Rep Power: 0 2011 Gas Tank Size Confusion
I recently bought a pre-owned 2011 VP with ~10k miles on it. I'm still trying to figure some things out and the gas tank size is really confusing me. I have read it comes with a 13.2 gallon tank. But, my last two fill ups I've gone over that amount (went to 13.76 gallons this afternoon). It generally cuts off around 11 gallons when Im filling it up, but I am able to continue to fill it. What is going on?
My last tank I was able to drive 456 miles.

Topping off is bad for your car...
The extra space is created by the fill tube.
And eventually you just recirculate gas when you try to fill up, the meter on the pump keeps going(and keeps charging you) but you don't get any more gas.
e-zone might pop in here with more info.

Yeah the filler neck will make up the difference. I had an 87 cutlass that I would fill until gas came out the neck- the level sender would then be stuck unitl I got to half a tank, and there would be a sudden drop -like I had a hole or something.
Not a wise thing to do.
