06 Civic EX - Keyless Entry/Engine Issue

Need a speedy answer if you could assist me... looking to buy it tomorrow at the earliest.

Hey guy's I just test drove a 2006 civic EX with 94,000km on it. I noticed two things that I don't know I should be concerned about.. perhaps a little insight?

2006 civic ex
1.8L
94,000 KM
(Original owner was an old man)

Well anyway, the car has been sitting on the lot at a dealership for a while now and I drove it tonight. I noticed a ticking coming from the engine that sounded like a fan was hitting something every 2 seconds.. is it perhaps since these are little 4 bangers and thats the nature of a cold start up?? (after a fresh 1 foot snowfall the night before)

My other issues is the keyless entry... When I hit unlock twice, it unlocks the doors but only I can get in the drivers side.. all other doors are locked. Is this normal?

Options for me are to buy it and just get an extra key cut... or buy a new keyless for $50 on a site that I found --- > http://www.originalkeyless.com/2006-...try-Remote.htm

Or buy it and fix that entry problem later.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: 06 Civic EX - Keyless Entry/Engine Issue

Not sure about the 2 second tick thing....have the seller check it out. In fact, you should have a pre-purchase inspection done before you commit to buying anything.

Make sure all applicable recalls have been done.

Without more info and a little bit of diagnosis, I might SWAG at the drivers power lock actuator, for a bad lock position sensor.
It comes with the latch assembly, and can be had for cheaper than your keyless kit you found.

Re: 06 Civic EX - Keyless Entry/Engine Issue

Sometimes I need to hit the unlock button a third time to get the drivers door to unlock... i just got used to it. Doors always lock and unlock just may need another oush of the button in the fob.

The ticking could be anything- I hear the injectors on my 2007 tick, so I do not know if this is the same thing- i only have 35,000 miles.

Valves need to be adjusted ? Maybe there is some damage to a roating part - but that would vary with speed. Bad bearing in the AC or PS unit ? This could be anything.
