I am looking at a new Civic and aware of the EPA ratings. I know with hypermiling you can typically beat the EPA estimates by far. What are you hypermilers getting mgp-wise? TIA!

Re: Hypermilers
I'm averaging over 36mpg right now.
I have an 2012 automatic EX with about 700 miles on it. I drive 300 miles a week and mostly highway. I live in New England and morning temps are in the 20's.
After the engine is broke in, getting 39mpg on the highway might not be too far fetched.
The only thing I don't like about the car is the damn blind spots.
Go out and test drive everything. If the Civic appeals to you, you won't be disappointed.

Averaged 37mpg this week. Went 371 miles and burned 10 gallons!
39mpg on the highway does not sound too far away after the weather warms up and the motor gets some mileage on it.
I wonder what the other manufacturer's cars like this are getting? Toyota Corolla suggested like 35 if I remember right.
So far my only pet peeve is that the side window glass wipers don't work.

Re: Hypermilers
I tried hypermiling with an 06 civic hybrid, I think I got close to 48mpg
With my car, the best I could get was 37mpg out of it, which is amazing, since I average ~28mpg with my driving habits
I'm betting I could squeeze 40mpg out of my civic, but I cant fight the urge to step on the gas once in a while, and to bump up my music :P

I would be pissed if I didnt get as advertised.
Just for comparison:
My 01 LX with 198k miles gets 38-39 mpg.
My 06 EX 112k gets about 35-36 mpg
My 01 Supercharged Corvette Z06 (531 rwhp) can and has gotten 28-29 on the highway.
