Rep Power: 0 Key fob does not open passenger doors
Hi everybody, new guy here. I was happy owner of 2006 Honda Civic LX sedan until recently. I noticed that I cannot open passenger doors with key fob. I can do it from driver's door using door lock switch. Another thing that my alarm goes off when I start the car.
I searched and can't find topics about it.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Key fob does not open passenger doors
If I had to take a WILD STAB at it, I'd be inspecting the lock actuator in the drivers door first.
Here's why: If the position switch inside the actuator is bad, then the MICU doesn't know the drivers power lock moved from lock to unlock, so it keeps trying to unlock the drivers door every time you hit the remote. It has to see the drivers door unlocked before it will try to unlock the rest of the doors. That would explain the alarm going off, too.
A wiring diagram and a volt/ohm meter could easily prove or disprove this theory. Could also be a wiring problem.

Hmm, sounds interesting (not really). Could it be moisture inside the door? I stumbled at one service bulletin regarding doors not opening but nothing about alarm though.

Re: Key fob does not open passenger doors
The door is designed to get wet inside it.
Wouldn't matter anyway. If moisture in the actuator switch was the issue, then the unit isn't sealed and is bad anyway.
You can speculate all night and never solve the problem.
Test, don't guess.

and it doesn't matter that I can unlock doors with driver side unlock switch? If actuator was bad then unlock switch wouldn't work either or would it?

Re: Key fob does not open passenger doors
And the switch I'm talking about is only one part of the lock actuator. The lock actuator MOTOR still works fine.

You're on your own for wiring diagrams. I can't hotlink my info.
Here's a parts catalog pic, looks like it comes as part of the door latch. #19.
Pretty cheap, considering what it is.
