Received a Class Action Lawsuit letter regarding 2003-2009 Civics Hybrids. Long story short, it looks like Honda claimed my year (06) would get around 45 mpg, when in reality we average under 40. The class action, if ruled in the favor of the plaintiff, will grant those in the Settlement Class some sort of reimbursement. I have not had any issues with my IMA Battery, though it was taken in for recall work to update the microchip in the IMA Battery. Knock on wood, I have yet to have any problems with this. However, I am a bit disappointed with my MPG since the update, so I am glad something is being done! Have any of you other Hybrid owners received said letter? I know I am not the only tree hugger on here...!

There is a woman in the news lately who is trying to take Honda to small claims court on this- she is a lawyer and hybrid owner and they payout in small claims is better than the class action settlement. You are not alone- and google this topic , should be very recent info out there.

If you believe 49MPG in the city you're an idiot. And Honda is stupid for claiming that. Just the opinion of a guy who can still get comparable MPGs in an 11 year old gas powered Civic. Hell, the guys driving EFs still get 40+ on the highway.

I knew I wouldnt get 49MPG, but averaging 37 is a bit disappointing considering its a HYBRID!! She should have gotten more considering her IMA battery crapped out, those things are not cheap.. Good for her for fighting thru the Cali justice system though

Wow, sorry, that sounded really harsh. It's not even about the MPGs, it's about the fact that Honda misled consumers- even after the EPA revised the MPG figures. Read "the facts" on her website for the whole story: http://www.dontsettlewithhonda.org/

How many hybrid owners in that area? Each one being a potential lawsuit. 1/3 goes to her for representation. Can you say cash cow.
And it's not even the court lawyers who are the problem. It's the ones that become judges and politicians.
You have to feel for the hybrid owners though. It's not much of an improvement on a standard Honda mpg. Especially when the Civics were getting 40+ 20 years ago.

meh, give me the car and i will get 50+mpg out of it EASY. i know people with 2003 civic hybrids that routinely get 50 mpg with normal driving (not trying to get the best mileage). and this is almost a 10 yr old hybrid with who knows what battery issues. the ima tech has not changed much since then. the problem here is nobody knows how to drive anymore. if you push the car hard ofcourse it will get terrible mileage. im really surprised she won, considering the sticker has a broad range of mpg figures you can expect (at least my 2002 sticker did). like 26-34mpg city, 32-42mpg highway. i've gotten 15mpg and 42mpg in my 2002 civic with only changing my driving style. and btw, ima battery packs are very cheap to rebuild, or even get a better one with more power. http://www.hybrid-battery-repair.com/
