Rep Power: 0 2012 LX Poor Mileage
Hey gang, last monday i turned in my 2008 civic and got a 2012 LX 5 speed. I'm seeing poor gas mileage. I've been doing all city driving but i'm only getting about 20.6mpg, this is worse than my 2008. is this a break in period thing? or am i driving it wrong? i never spike the RPM's on it or go too fast, typically shift around 3000rpm... kind of discouraging!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 2012 LX Poor Mileage
For the 12 m.y., so far I have not seen a single mileage complaint that turned out to be a problem that was real. Maybe someone else has, but I haven't.
Winter blend fuels, Ethanol, oxygenated fuel, and crappy quality fuel all decrease gas mileage.
Sitting still with the engine running but not moving kills gas mileage.
Cold weather and warmup time kills gas mileage.
If the tires are aired up to specs or higher and you are using the correct fuel of good quality and the CORRECT octane, then the driver is probably the problem.

And yes, shift at lower RPM. Google "hypermilers"
