2006 Honda Civic LX Sedan A/C/vent issue

In my 2006 lx my Ac/vents never turn all the way off...
The AC isn't on,but I can still feel a slight bit of air coming out of the vents, and the air is the temperature I set(i.e. if I change the temperature with the ****,the air coming out changes temperature.)

At a standstill it's hardly noticeable, but the faster I go the more it comes out, going 45 it seems like the AC is on the first turn...at 60 it feels like its on the second or third turn...

It's not a huge issue, but it's quite annoying, driving on the highway I have to adjust the temperature to find something neutral, otherwise it gets too cold,or way too hot and having air constantly blow in my face,or hands is quite annoying as well...

Is this something common? Can i fix it?Is it anything serious? If I can't fix it,how much will it cost to get it fixed?

You are talking about draft air that comes through while you are moving and the blower fan is not on, right?
Normal.
If you don't like it, push the recirculate button so outside air doesn't come through. Windows may fog up easier though.

So I tried changing it to recirculate instead...it's still there.
It did lessen the air flow, but only slightly...
I feel it the most when the setting is on floor or defog.

Re: 2006 Honda Civic LX Sedan A/C/vent issue

Center vents or the side vents have the draft?
Don't the side vents have their own shutoffs on each vent?

I see so darn many of the cars I can't keep them straight sometimes.

There is supposed to be a little bit of flow through ventilation when you are moving, so CO/CO2 fumes can't build up in the cabin.

Compare to another car before deciding yours is broken!

Its all vents, and I'm guessing its just the draft,I was just wondering why its temperature controlled.

Re: 2006 Honda Civic LX Sedan A/C/vent issue

(Barring an unwanted outside air leakage in the firewall area.......)

You control the temperature. All the air coming out of any of the vents has to go through the HVAC system, so it comes out at whatever temp you have the dial set at. Somewhere between hot and fresh outside air temp. (A draft can't turn on the air conditioner.) Not sure why air would come through the vents when other modes are selected, unless it is the normal bleedover....same bleedover as when the fan is on.

IIRC, even though recirculate is turned on, there must be a certain amount of fresh air let through, and a number of something like 10% sticks in my mind. I am under the impression that it is a federal law and has been around since at least the '70s. (I am not a lawyer, and I don't play one on TV.)
There are always vents in the rear of the car that promote the draft effect too. They have one-way flaps on them.

Re: 2006 Honda Civic LX Sedan A/C/vent issue

Yeah,I know about the rear vents, in the trunk...me and my dad taped them semi-open because they were rattling like crazy because of my subwoofers.

We didn't close them all the way to keep the air circulation, but we closed them a little to keep as much pressure as possible for the subs.
