Rep Power: 0 Trouble shifting into 3rd.
Hello guys, Im a new Honda owner of a 2010 Civic SI. I love this car. It has all the features I’ve been looking for in a "have fun while driving to work” vehicle. I have a question though. I’ve been having an issue with shifting into 3rd gear. It catches me unawares at times. I throw it in and it doesn’t stick. It feels like something is in the way and I have to work it in. The other gears are fine.. The speed of the revs don’t seem to make much of a difference as to how easy it moves into gear. Does this sound like something I could fix myself? I plan on taking it into the dealer and having them look at it. Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing? Thanks for any replies!

There could be an issue with the syncrhonizers. I test drove an Si of the same generation and it went into 3rd, hopped out, and then clashed. There's a TSB out on it.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Trouble shifting into 3rd.
The TSB 08-020 does not apply to this car. No TSB listed in Honda ISIS for this year car with this problem. But it sounds like the same condition.
I bet someone missed a shift at some point in the cars life and crunched it hard when they did, and did a little damage. All it takes is one missed shift.
It just needs fixed. 5/60 Powertrain warranty should apply.
I have seen a kid test drive an S2000 and trash the trans in 5 minutes, 2nd and 3rd gears crunched almost every shift.
