Hey guys, thinking about getting tints on my civic sedan this weekend.
First time getting my windows tinted so i dont know much. Called 2 shops and they told me $150 for side windows and rear. Is that a decent price?
Next what types of film are they?? whats the difference between them? What is better?
Lastly how dark should I get it? Ive been in my friend's civic with 20% and thought it was a bit too dark ( plus mine isnt an SI )

I had my 2011 Civic GX sedan recently tinted with 20% 3M tint film on the back side windows and rear window, along with 50% on the front side windows. The 50% film looks very light with the 20% looking dark but it is not limo dark, which is 5%. This cost me $300 versus $180 for the next cheaper quality film. Your price looks like it's a good deal but it also depends on what quality tint you are getting. The very good ones have lifetime warranties, block 99% or more of UV, are supposed to not fade or turn purple and are not supposed to block cell phone or radio signals. As far as which darkness is right for you, that depends on your tastes. It is best to see the samples at a tint shop and pick the darkness that is right for you. Some jurisdictions have laws specifying how dark window tint can be on a car.

Re: Window Tinting help!
We're thinking about tinting about '11 Civic LX sedan. Looking to stay legal within our home state, so it'll likely be either 35% or 50% for front 2 windows and 35% for back windows and rear windshield. Anyway, given the choices below, thoughts?
1) 3M FX-High Performance Film: $219.99
2) 3M Color-Stable Window Film(nano-carbon polyester technology): $249.99
3) Llumar Metallized Window Film: $199
4) Llumar Ceramic Window Film: $249
All would come with life-time warranty.
We do not have an in-dash nav system, only a portable Garmin (if that makes any difference).
Oh, the purpose isn't to make the car look all fancy and such, main reason is to minimize potential heat and sunlight discomforts to a newborn.

Just tinted my 08 yesterday for $160 in Sav. 35% on the front driver and passenger sides with 30% on everything behind that.
