Hi guys, I just got a brand new 2011 civic lx-s. I am not the biggest car guy so i need help. I want to know how to break in the car? Also I drove it for 5 days now and 150 miles and a little more than half of my gas tank is gone. How do I get the most out of the gas? Thanks

takes nearly 20k miles for the motor to break in and you get the best power and gas mileage. just drive normally for the first 5k miles without beating on it (redline)

For gas mileage, usually that first tank will be your worst fuel average. I got 27 MPG on my first tank and I haven't seen less than 30MPG since in my 2011 EX after 3 months; I usually see 31-32MPG, and the highest I saw all highway driving was 35MPG so far. If you drove 150 miles in 5 days, that means you're not driving very far on a daily basis. The more frequent shorter trips you drive, the worse your fuel economy. Your fuel economy while the engine is warming up is going to be extremely low, as an engine burns a lot more fuel during warm up than it does when it's at operating temperature. So, the more warm up cycles you go through during a tank, the lower your average will be. Overall, to get the best mileage, I'd suggest keeping the revs below 3k and speed up and slow down as gradually as you can safely. And keep your speed below 70 or so on the highway.
