Weak suspension

I think it's amazing that the suspension is so soft in my 10 Ex. Just loaded it with a normal grocery trip today and had to drive like an old lady to avoid destroying the back end. Every bump sounded like it was going to send the rear through the trunk. WTH? I remember Civics actually being built to have fun and cornering fairly well 10 years ago, now it's like driving a Buick.
Is this common of the later generations, or is there an issue with this heap that I need to have checked out?

A sway bar isn't going to keep this thing from bottoming out with any additional (not excessive) weight in the trunk. I just think I should be able to buy groceries for a family of four without being concerned the whole way home that I am putting too much stress on the suspension.

Too true. Sounds like another TSB in the making. Take it back to the dealer with approximately the same weight in the trunk and make 'em fix it. It may be that you got a bad springs. If that won't work I would suggest stiffer struts and/or springs but, that also gives stiffer ride.
