Repairing damage to car door interior

(New user here - hope I'm posting in the right place! If not, just let me know and I'll move it elsewhere.)

I just bought a 2010 Civic Honda LX less than a week ago only to have an unfortunate incident yesterday with a friend's dog and one of the car doors in the back, which left a small but visible gouge (~1/4" long) on the inside of the door right under the window (see photo).

Would any of you know how/where to repair this, and what it would entail and cost?

Plastic is hard to repair, probably easier to buy a new panel.

Prodresurgence will become famous soon enough
Re: Repairing damage to car door interior

I had a mark like that in the soft portion of the dash board, I hit it with a heat gun and pressed it smooth with my hands.

Re: Repairing damage to car door interior

Ya, it looks like a soft material. What I would do to fix it:
- get a thin hook shaped piece of metal
- stick the hook in there and try to pull out the flap and place it back where it belongs in the gouge
- hit it with a heat gun or hair dryer on a hot day to mould it back the way you want it
- get some vinyl glue from a fabric store and dab some on it when you have it where you want it

I fixed a bean bag chair like this bag in the day.

Had this happen too. Took the heat gun to it and it looked fine but, it came back about a month later. I'm going to use better glue this time. lol

I would take the panel off and work it from the back first. Then once I had it where I wanted it I'd put a piece of tape on the back.

Re: Repairing damage to car door interior

every civic ive seen has that crack in the airbag casing. and no theres no way to really fix it since its hard plastic. you would need a new airbag for $400 and that would prolly start to crack over time too.

Re: Repairing damage to car door interior

I believe they have kits to fix these types of things at your local auto parts store. Heat gun doesn't sound like a bad idea either.
