Rep Power: 0 Oil change \ Ammt needed ?
Hi everyone,
I have a question about a Civic oil change. My owners manual states this car needs 3.9 - the Honda website states 4.7? I tried to google it, and it came up with different responses, I called my Honda dealer and the person said 4.0 even ?
Thanks for any information
(Non SI engine).

Go between the lines of the dipstick... Just check it a few times as your pouring it in... It's really not that hard. To answer your question though... I think its around 3.9 liters... because when I do my oil change i leave a bit out of the 4.4L bottle. At least I think those are the numbers... hah
P.S. You have quite a bit of leeway with those lines on the dipstick... but you know it's safe... because Honda said so.

my EX 2002 usually takes 3L. just check the dipstick as you are filling (on flat surface) to be sure you dont overfill. also remember there is some variation with the oil filter. some people like to put some oil inside before installing. so you need to check the level again once you drive the car around once.

The Si K20 and the standard R18 require different amounts. Follow the manual.
The Honda rule is with filter change 3.9 qts and with oil WITHOUT filter is 3.7 qts. for thr 1.8 R18
The K20 is 4.6 with filter and 4.4 without. they also throw in the qts/liters confusion which are pretty close , so double check and ALWAYs check the dipstick.
