Syn Oil/Replacement Oil Pan Plugs - A twofer!

I went to Autozone today to pick up the necessary parts for an oil change, except that they didn't have the exact plug for an '08 LX in their system. They prompted me to go pick one up at the dealership, which had since closed about an hour previous. By the time I got home, I realized that they had one for an '06, and that the plug size might be the same seeing as there are many similarities for parts in the 8th gen line. Am I wrong in thinking so?

Also, I picked up a Mobil1 syn oil since a fellow civic enthusiast recommended it for DIY oil changes. However, I've come across a number of threads warning against syn oils in the D18 engines. After extensive reading on the subject of oils, syn v dino and others, I'm still stumped. So I guess I would simply be wondering if I should use the syn oil in my car that only has 16k miles on it so far.

Search function didn't really give me anything to go on for this issue.

I dont see how using synthetic oil in your motor differs from any other motor? The 06 plug would have probably fit. Why are u changing the plug? Normally you just change the crush washer with it.

That's what I thought, but apparently I shouldn't trust what some kid at autozone is telling me. Thanks.

Before consulting any employees of Autozone, be sure to ask them to identify their *** as well as their elbow. Most will be unable to differentiate.

check sparkplugs.com for the proper part number. im sure all 06-09 are the same (SI is prolly different). and stick with a good conventional oil like valvoline.
