Upgrading audio w/ factory NAV installed

My 07 Si has the factory NAV and I'm considering upgrading the audio system. However I do not want to compromise the Nav unit.
Would upgrading the speaker alone make that much of a difference in the quality of sound? Can it even be done? Can you run an amp to the speakers without effecting the NAV?
FYI, I'm not interested in installing a Subwoofer as they're too bulky and I've been there, done that!

I had the same ? as you and wound up upgrading my speakers and being very happy, don't ask me what kind of speakers to buy because everybody has there own taste, my suggestion is to go to your local stereo ***** house and listen for what your looking for, bring a few CD's with you, what ever your looking for you'll find that in the space allowed in the door, you won't find that much more bass than you already have but what you will find is more clarity. Honda makes a sub system that fits on the rear deck but I'm told that this upgrade is min.

Did you replace all the speakers?
I'm thinking I can get away with just doing the two front tweaters and front door speakers. The rears are consumed by the factory woofer in the rear deck.

Just the two in the door, those little tweeters because of there local look like a real PIA to replace and don't sound that bad to me, just look for door speakers with a little more bass .... that what I did. With bass size matters and so does room.
