2007 honda civic sedan road noice

Re: 2007 honda civic sedan road noice
The 2007 Civic does suffer from road noise, but I can say it is a lot better now than what was in 1990 and 1994.
If you adjust your radio to a comfortable level, it will drown out the road noise. You can also try installing noise damping material. Lining your trunk floor and lid, your doors, floor boards will cut down a lot of the noise you hear. It will not eliminate all the noise.

Plus, adding the damping material will add weight to the car. I got used to it very quickly and use the radio to drown anything out anyway. To be honest, the exhaust gets more annoying to me on long trips than road noise. I think the 2007 Si Sedan is a very solid-sounding car on the highway. It also depends on the tires and the condition of the road. Damping material adds a lot of weight to cars; people don't realize that.

+1 - just got back from a 500 mile drive to visit my daughter. The exhaust does get to you after a couple hours but the road noise is minimal. My '07 Si Sedan was traded in for a Lexus ES 300 and, aside from the exhaust note, I really don't notice more noise from the Si. Very acceptable IMO.

Road noise is mentioned in almost every review. That said it is much less on my coupe than the Subaru I had. The worsening you hear is probably the tires breaking in. I have noticed it already on my Civic. Bridgestones are very noisy. I replaced the Bridgestones on my WRX with Pirellis and got a better ride, lots quieter ride and better handling. I may do that with the Civic too.

I might suggest checking the tires as well. I recently put winter tires on and wow, are they noisy compared the all seasons it came with. It's something I'll just have to put up with until spring.
In general (pre winter tire installation), I don't find my sedan noisy. It's completely silent compared to my previous car that I had for 17 years!

Bridgestone tires are notoriously noisy and mine are still new. I imagine I will be looking for some quieter tires by my second or third service.

getting quieter tires will make THE MOST difference in amount of road noise. switching from the firestones to some quality bridgestone turanzas (same as on the acura TL) made my 02 civic go from geo metro to lexus quiet. sounded like a totally different car. next time you need to buy tires, goto tirerack.com and read the reviews, paying attention to road noise factor.
