Rep Power: 0 To Nav or Not to Nav, that is the question
A question to 06-07 civic si owners: Dont think I can swing the navigation system cost, but I am curious, from an audio standpoint, is the stock si audio system identical to the one in the navigation system? meaning speakers, wattage output, S/N ratio, quality, clarity, and all that other fun stuff?

According to honda.com, the stereo components are identical in nav versus non-nav. With the exception that with-nav includes the XM sat receiver, while without-nav is merely XM ready (ie. you need to install your own receiver).

I"ll ask one more: does sound quality sound the same if playing an MP3 CD on the car's system or if listening to an MP3 from my MP3 player using the aux port?

nav is a waste of money. I will do a common search for walmart or mcdonalds and it will show me that the closest one is 2500 miles away.
Don't bother

Eh, I just use telenav on my sprint phone, get the voice directions over my bluetooth headset. I'm paying for unlimited data access on my cell plan anyway, so why pay more for a separate nav unit? So far, it's been an acceptable solution for my use (YMMV - especially if you travel into areas with crappy cell reception, as the aGPS on most cell phones needs decent cell site connections to get a position fix).

They sell dash kits for an aftermarket nav, you'll just have to check out ebay to find them. If you're really wanting the oem nav you can get it @ collegehillshonda.com, but be prepared to shell out some serious cash for a nav unit that's just as good as one you could get aftermarket for 1/3 of the price.

is the Nav. touch screen layout worth it? is it all clear and accurate? sounds like the search results aren't up to par, but I'm curious to know about all the buttons and if anyone has any pro's versus con's on how well the interface is.
sorry to be redundant; but this is one option I'm on the fence with for the 08 SI sedan, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I could be in BOW BOW Kansas and all I have to do is press home on my Navi and it ill take me home.
For people like me who have a hard time with directions it's a life saver.
Just so you know they are made by Alpine and you can buy updated CD's for about $150.00.

Advantages: cheap, works very well, stock dash layout is preserved with its clear controls, no big honking screen in the middle of the dash that is off most of the time.
Remember, it will be off most of the time since you have learned your way around 90 percent of the time.

Wincros: thanks for the input!
I also have a Garmin it works great when your on 10+ hour trips (I agree with the 90% of time you know where your going), I guess I'm a sucker for that 'clean looking dash' so if they have any 4dr Si's with the Navi. I'm gonna jump on it. plus I keep hearing little bits of a SD card slot behind the 'face' of the navi unit; am i correct to assume it can/will read MP3's off of a card? -is that option ( if it exists) only for the Navi. or also on stock radio HU's ?
sorry for the long question,
thanks!
