Rep Power: 0 Subs on stock stereo?
My friend is hooking me up with two audiobahn(2000w) subs with a legacy amp for 300$(Cdn) . I haven't gotten the time or the money to install the bracket and a new stereo. I was wondering, can you install subwoofers on the stock stereo(i have an LX)
Thanks
Thanks

yea that's easy just run an sni converter on the rear speaker wires.. that'll turn them into the rca jacks needed to run an amp.. unless your amp has the speaker wire type inputs.. im' drawing a blank on the name right now... but yes... i have installed many subwoofer systems on cars w/ factory radios..

Rep Power: 0 Jl Audio Makes A Bad *** Convertor Box For That Its Pretty Pricey Like Around 300 Bux But Its Amazing, It Will Basically Make Your Head Unit Do Everything A 3-4 Hundred Dollar Head Unit, All The Rca Hook Ups And Everything You Will Need, And When You Shut It Off The Subs Wont Kick You In The Nads Like A Lot Of Factory Stereos With Subs Do.
My Buddies At Circuit ****ty Say It Will Do Everything You Need To Except Give You A Lap Dance.

Rep Power: 0 Haha Thx, Ill Keep That In Mind.
I Had Origioanlly Got The Dx Stereo Bezzle And Put In An Alpine And Had A Kicker Vr350 X 2 Amp, With A 12 Inch Mtx Sledgehammer 5500 Series Sub, But I Find That My Style Of Driving Really Distrupts Objects That Are Suppose To Stay Stationary, Plus Its Extra Weight, And With A N/a Fg1 I Need It To Be As Light Weight As Possible Lol

well i just bought some subs and an amp that i want to install on my factory stereo, but when i took it to a garage to set it up, cuz im not good with this stuff, they said that they need to first order a chip to because its a stock stereo. is that true? do you need some chip in order to set up some subs on these stock civic stereos?
#17
so youre saying that the "chip" they're talking about should only be that expensive? is it possible to do it without a chip? because i went the first time, he said it wold take an hour. when i went back after an hour, he said that he COULDNT set up the subs cuz its a stock stereo and that he needs to order a chip. is it not possible without one? i didnt know that.

this "chip" i hope he just used that word to describe it in lamans terms... it's not like you jsut plug a chip in somewhere and voila it works... find out what exatly it is they want to order and how much

this is bizarre, now they are just telling me to go somewhere else. This problem all got started when one place wanted to charge me $600 to install it and i said no way, and this garage said that they cant do it cuz its a stock stereo. I should just do it myself. does anyone know where to go to find out how subs are installed on stock stereos? or a website or anything?? this is crazy, i want my subs!!
