Rep Power: 0 EX Sedan faulty radio
My new 06 Civic EX sedan developed poor radio reception not long after
we got it.
AM and FM radio reception is terrible compared to other vehicles in same
location. AM radio will crackle & pop and the volume goes up and down while
driving over a bumpy road.
Dealership checked my antenna connection at the back of radio and said it was fine; also said they couldn't "recreate" the problems.
Dealership told me they have no service bulletins, but they admitted replacing the rear window for one other 06 Civic owner that had same complaint. They said it "fixed" the problem.
Because of another problem, I've already had the speed sensor replaced
on this new car and that didn't help the radio reception. (I thought
maybe the SVC 'speed volume control' was messed up because of the
faulty speed sensor).
Because my dealership replaced another customer's window for a similar
complaint and they said that fixed it, the dealership is stuck on
telling me that is all they are willing to try and do next for my
complaint.
I am worried about what can go wrong if I get my window replaced, eg.
leaks, damage.
I think there is a bad connection somehwere, rather than a bad antenna
inside the window glass.
Any ideas, similar problems?
Thanks. K.

antennas in the window glass SUCK GIANT HAIRY MONKEY B@#$ it's a horrible idea other than that it eliminates the need for a body mounted antenna.. try this though.. 30 bucks is way better than leaky windows.. go to car toys or another HIGH END stereo shop... have them get you a "under dash" antenna... they are powered and hide under the dash.. should be a 3 wire instalation... should do the trick if the window antenna is bad... plus i've been told they actually work better than stock antennas

Rep Power: 0 I just took the car in for it's first oil change 2 days ago and took one of the Service guys for road test.
The radio did not act up.
Because the dealership had no further complaints after replacing the rear window for another owner with the same complaint as me, they are going to order the window for me and replace mine soon.
I can't seem to argue with their logic.
On the drive home after the service, the radio crackled and hissed while driving uphill on a smooth road.
Go figure.
Will keep you posted.

Had and still have the same problem with a Civic Hybrid 06. Bad FM reception on a local station that we've been listening to forever in many different cars, including a Honda Odyssey. Never had a problem until this car. Signal fades in and out, fuzzy and crackly. And this car has a rear roof mounted antenna. Tried an after market one, didn't help. I made a fuss with the dealer and after the regional service manager got involved, they agreed to replace the radio. Seemed to work okay for a while, still has it's good and bad days. Not at all what you'd expect. And of course, Honda has made it so you can't install an aftermarket radio in place of the "custom" standard issue Honda radio. Was the rear window replacement the solution because the antenna is in the glass on the EX?
