I just bought a 06 lx sedan and I was just wondering if anybody knew what the speed limiter was set at, I haven't tried it out yet as I am babying the engine a little until I hit 1000 km.

I am not sure what the 06 is goverened at i have a manual so i can go till i run out of rps ill see if i can find out at work for ya.

just try it out.. you wont hurt the car even if its new if you get to high speed slowly.

I work for a yacht company so I deal with a lot of clients that own supercars. A guy was telling me recently that Ferrari actually runs every engine flat out for a period of time before it is dropped into a car. Dont know if it is true or not...just what I heard. Another buddy of mine told me Evinrude does the same with there ETech outboards. Quite a different perspective than the "baby it for a while" attitude.

Doubt it, those engines are supposd to have 0 miles on them when you buy them, there is no way they would run the engine like that then pass it off as brand new.

I don't know much about this topic in this post but they can always reset the odometer after running the car, etc.

I would like to know though, factually, if this is true about the ferraris?

they may run the engine hard, but they do not do anything w/ the car.. EVERY engine that is installed in a car is tested before hand... they hook it up to an engine dyno... wether they actually do a hp reading idk.. but they do test them..

I agree with the idea of "baby"ing it for the first thousand. Avoid the cruise as much as possible and run it through a moderate range. Every engine must "set" the rings for a good seal. It will temper the cam (or two in the DOHC like Si). And the computer must learn about you and the driving conditions. After the engine is seasoned, you should raise the limits to exercise it (carbon and injector gunk will be a problem if you don't). Get as many opinions as you can, but be skeptical of all - even mine! Ultimately, this is your baby and you are responsible. It's your pleasure and your pain.

I heard it from one of my clients who is an european banker, has owned several, and has been to the factory. He really had no reason to lie to me but he may be full of crap though.
