wsup yall! ok, i've been having my 2k1 for about 2 and a half years...i've got 58.9k miles on it and i've noticed something different.

Yesterday i gas'd my car using Chevron Supreme Unleaded w/ Techron (91 octane)...and i noticed something weird...when i took off out of the parking lot i floored it and watched the rpm gauge rise and it didn't stop until it hit 7000....that is the first time i've ever seen that happen! I have an AT so does anyone have/had this happen to them kuz I'm curious to what it could be...is it the gas?? kuz i've been using 89 octane at chevron ever since i got my car. Any insight on this would help...i've talked to my friends at work about this and they haven't a clue what it might be...

i'm seeking answers!

1st gear hit 7000
2nd hit 6800 or 6850
3rd so on and so forth....

....i have an AT and i use just the regular lowest octane gas and i've hit 7k in first gear before...would your car not go up to 7k (or real close to it) in first before you put the higher octane gas in?

this is the first time i've noticed it...i look at my rpm gauge all the time...it never hit 7k when i use 89 octane (i've never used anything less). So yeah this would be a first time of using a higher octane gas in a while and i noticed i hit 7k...i'm wondering if there are any other members out there who've experienced this phenomena! haha...

my redline is 6800 but i can take mine to 7000 in first gear, 2k1 ex coupe 5speed

i use 89 octane, and usually when i floor it, it waits till 6500 AT THE MOST to shift gears. so that's pretty weird that yours would go so high. i've been up to 7k, but only when i put it in 2 and floor it...

I've hit redline (about 6750-6800) in first gear. I have an LX auto. I know I could've gone past it, but I let go of the gas pedal as soon as I hit 6750 (redline). I use 87 octane.

have ur tranny checked, it could be sliping and leting u go that high. it just may need to be tuned up... nothing to worry about till it dosent go in gear oh and check the fluid it might need to be filled. another reason y ur tranny would slip

my car has been feeling like the gears haven't been hittin hard like they used to when i first got it. Im going to get my car tuned up as soon as I save up the money. At 60k miles, I better get it done right? before my car totally gets messed up...its nice hittin 7k rpms in first gear, Imma take advantage of it while i can!

hahaha.. werd. yea get it checked now cuzz paying 75 dollas for a quick check up, is better than paying 600 dollas for a new tranny.. belive me I've mad that mistake in the past, with my old eclipse.. or u can get 5spd like I have and hit 7 all the time

Mine is auto. too, 2003 and hits 7k in 1st all the time if I floor it from stop.

I had no clue that you can hit 7000 in first gear with auto.
Stick's still better. (That's what I think. Don't mean I'm right.)
