Painting guage bracket?

If anyone has done the DIY reverse indiglo guages, its the first step when you do it. That big bracket peice. Anyways I want to paint it and was wondering,

would I need to prime it?
would I need to sand it? if so with what grit

Thanks

clean it well with rubbing alcohol, prime, and then paint. I personally don't suggest sanding but others will. If you decide to sand then use a very very fine grit.

When I painted, I sanded with 220 grit or 400 then primed with light coats of white primer. Great results.

You don't need to sand it. I just cleaned it w/ alcohol and primed, painted, and clear coated with 3 coats each. I waited 15 minutes between coats and didn't apply the clear coat till the next day. It came out great, easy to clean and has a nice thick glossy even look from the clear coat.
