All you electronic wizs loook!, new a circuit for some Led's

Hey I want to run 8 Green LEDs to a power source of 12v (the car batt) I need a circuit so it will not burn them out. There somthing else to if anyone knows how to make them so when i have 4 sets of 2 LEDs each that they would light up in sequence with the first set on and all others off then first and second on and others off and then so on up to the fourth set, and so theres a dial so its variable on the speed of it. any help would be nice, thanks [IMG]i/expressions/beer_yum.gif[/IMG]

Most LEDs only require 5V. The easiest way is to buy a cheap microprocesser like an 8051 and program the chip to do whatever you want. This works well if you have to sequence though your leds.

im not sure how to get the movement, but the voltage is no big deal....go to radio shack and pick up a one dollar voltage regulator.....that will drop the voltage from 12v to 5v, and supplies up to 1amp....which is more then enough for 8leds....
