SRS Sensors

There are 2 SRS sensors on the front corners of the civic. Does anyone know the procedure to fix or replace the sensors to reset the SRS light? Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm...why would you want to replace the sensors? Are you sure it's a problem with the sensors?

Try looking in the DIY (do it yourself) section at resetting your SRS light. That may help. Or take it to the dealer and tell them that the light just came on. They should turn it off for free. Hope I helped .

Well the impact was on the front right side so i'm pretty sure the FR SRS sensor is going to have to be replaced. The sensor triggered my seat belt pretensioners to go off. After getting an estimate at $400 a side to replace the seatbelts, I decided to order the belts and install them myself. After replacement and trying to reset the SRS light, it still does not turn off. If I take it to the dealer right now, there would be things I would rather not have to explain. I just looked at the sensor and it says no serviceable parts inside. It is about $50 for a new one. What do you think I should do?

Hmmm...if it was me, since you're messing around with your personal safety, I would go to the dealer, and explain as LITTLE as possible. I'm not too familiar with the sensors and stuff, but I know that if you screw up you can cost yourself a lot of money, or kill yourself by exploding an airbag. Just my advice .

(Maybe ask one of the mods?)

You can reset your SRS light, but if the sensors fired off the pretensioners, you will have to replace them (sensors and pretensioners). They're a use once and replace system, for safety reasons. My advice is to go to the dealership and just have them fix it. If this is not an option (for whatever reason you don't want the dealer to know you wrecked your car), then you will have to read the DTC code from the SRS light, figure out what sensor is tripping the light, and fix that. If you need help, I posted how to reset, read DTCs, and what the DTCs mean for the SRS light here: Here. After that, it's just a matter of ordering whatever parts you need, installing them, and then resetting the SRS light. I would recommend letting the dealership fix this, but if for whatever reason you can't, good luck.

Thanks for the link to your site, there was alot of information i wanted. However, it seems I can't do much without that PGM tester. Also could you tell me what manual you got the information out of? The SRS system appears to be much more complicated than I thought and I am now even more doubtful that changing the FR sensor will do anything.
