Another fuel question
i just found out that the JDM DC5R will work on 96RON minimum (got this info from a Japnesses friend who owns a DC5R and is using 96RON fuel on his car in Japan) and where i live 95RON is only available. In Japan they have 89RON as regular and 96RON as super (high Octane fuel). Other higher octane fuels in Japan are avaiable in track petrol stations. I checked and i was told if i use 89RON regular fuel is endured, and the engine knock is generated.well sorry guys if you are annoyed from me, but i only need a simple answer to this question:
Will there be any problem if i use 95RON on a 96RON engine? please say Yes or no with the reason. I know i will loose some HP power, but i only want the car to run with our fuel here and not going through a major problem!
sorry for any annoyment with this fuel question and your feedback is apreciated!

I know this may not be the case but here in Mexico the highest octane is 93 and there are some cars that need 96 octane and they work fine i donīt think one octane will do any damage to your engine..........

i have emailed a friend who lives in Japan and will ask Honda Japan if there are knock sensors on the JDM Type R on their car like the Acura Type S? if the answer is yes then i can say my problem is solved.
still waiting for that email from him. i'll keep you updated guys when he tells me an answer.

I'm told that if you normally run reg gas (89) or somting and you run a high octane through it every third tank or so, that it cleans the carbon build-up out of it. Has anybody else ever heard of this?

yea silver2k2civic that's true. That high octane fuel does do some sort of cleaning it makes the pistons hit harder and get rid of any left over carbon/oxidation and clean its. My brother told me there are additives that do that too (not fuel). I think you have seen the AD on Interwood. The product name is MOTOR UP, you put in the fuel tank every 15,000 KM of mileage to clean up the chamber, piston, rods, head all the way to the cat and carbon/oxidation particles are forced right out of the exhaust pipe as gas. My brother says trying to put more or use that additive many times can cause engine damage and overheating, so as caution to use that additive you have to follow exactly what is written on the bottle.
Personally I haven't tried it yet, but when I do I am going to use it in every 20,000 KM to maintain the engines life and to minimize the side effect of the additive by using it less often.
hope this helps,
