Rep Power: 0 replacing spark plugs and wires on a 2002
My mother-in-law has a 2002 EX sedan with about 75,000 miles on it. Before she takes it on a road-trip next week, I was going to replace the plugs and wires. (Brake fluid was done last week and I'm going to do a 3x drain/fill with ATF-Z1.)
From what I understand, DENSO is the OE manufacturer and their Double Platinum plugs are the OE recommended ones.
Would the DENSO Platinum TT be an alternative option? AAP has them on sale for $1.99 each.
Any recommendations on wires to use or not to use? I don't know what the AAP store near me stocks. The web site lists a number of different Accel sets.

Don't bother upgrading the wires. there's no dizzy on the 01-05 civics, so there's no spark plug wires to upgrade. You have a coil-on-plug ignition system.

That would explain why O'Reilly didn't have any wires listed when they looked it up. That'll make the job a little simpler and less expensive.
So how about the plugs? DENSO Double Platinum or Platinum TT?

The TT is a good price, I would go with those. I have tried many plugs and never noticed a real difference.

Yeah, the DENSO Platinum TT is the way I'm leaning. Advance Auto's $1.99 sale may have ended yesterday, but regular price is still only $2.99.
Anyone know the proper gap? The DENSO Double Platinum, Iridium, and Standard plugs for that year Civic all indicate a gap of 0.044. The Autolite Double Platinum lists the same. Yet the gap on the DENSO Platinum TT says 0.040.

I've only used NGK IridiumIX ...
Make sure and check into the pre-set gap on which ever plugs you settle on. Some come pre-gapped.

"and if I am not wrong most plugs today are pre gaped right"
Yes, they're "pre gaped" but, don't trust it. Buy the 99 cent gap tool and check to make sure. Super cheap insurance.
