D16y8 iac

Im just wondering if anyone out there can post a picture of a D16Y8 IAC or just a detailed picture of the throttle body so I can see how it all goes, because im in australia and we have the D16Y4 and im trying to put on an edelbrock throttle body thats made for the D16Y8 and the only thing that doesn't fit is the IAC and I cant seem to find one down here. so if I have a picture I may be able to match it off one of the integras in the wreckers.
Thanks alot in advance...

Re: D16y8 iac

Secondly is the iac actually needed? Ive googled for about the last 2 hours and seen some with out it at all. can I just manually tune the idle with the throttle plate and the idle control screw?

Re: D16y8 iac

the iac allows the car to idle when the throttle is closed by allowing air thru a separate passage depending on different conditions. it opens and closes to let in more or less air. i doubt you would have a smooth idle without it hooked up. is yours broken or just dirty? usually cleaning them out will fix it. the iac has two coolant hoses running into it and is located around the tb/intake manifold area.

Re: D16y8 iac

on the D16y8 it should be right in front of the intake manifold to the right of the EGR. yeah def clean it before you go and buy another one they are kind of pricey. usually cleaning them out with carb cleaner and a toothbrush works really well.. mine had rough idle issues did that and solved the problem right then and there

Re: D16y8 iac

the proplem isnt a broken one it is that the one from my engine which i think is the same as you d16y7. doesnt match up with the one for the y8 edelbrock throttle body mine has 4 equally spaced bolts and the y8 only has 3 in a triangle.

Re: D16y8 iac

ok just so u all know it actually works fine took a bit of tweaking to get the idle with out the bypass but eventually got there, but i just pulled the iac apart so i could still plug it in to the connector to make a connection and stop the check engine light coming on and works sweet as now with out the iac at all

Re: D16y8 iac

i did a y7 to y8 intake mani swap and i ended up using the y7 t/b and iacv with the throttle cable plate and spring form the y8. easy swap on the throttle body and no probs. the only diff is i couldnt run my throttle cable to one of the clips. nbd tho.
