Rep Power: 0 catalytic converter crush washer not sealing
I'm ready to start bashing my head into a wall. I've been battling my exhaust system for several months now. The crush washer following converter to the b-pipe doesn't seal well. Its loud when in gear accelerating, and i can hear a psst noise momentarily if i rev it trying to find exactly where the leak is. New magnaflow converter, new b-pipe and new muffler, all with new gaskets.
I originally tightened it, but it wouldn't crush as much as i would have liked it to, but figured a little heat from running it followed by retorquing it would do the trick... several attempts to repeat that process has lead me to give up. 1 corner of the bpipe flange is bent alittle from tightening and the crush washer not crushing anymore. the other 2 corners are almost flange to flange from crushwasher flattening when torqued.. WTF.
where do i go from here. its louder than it should be and VERY irritating.

service manual has it labled as the b pipe. I assume that we are talking about the same one. following converter leading to muffler.
thanks gear box, I'll give it a try when weather clears.

Yeah i would throw some type of high temp sealent around it.. i did that when my stock manifold had a small hole in it and it worked perfectly just make sure you give it enough time to cure
