Got an '89 Civic last night. What next?
Just bought an '89 Civic sedan LX. Super excited to be a Civic owner. I wasn't able to spend much on the car itself, so I'm looking forward to putting money into any modding I can do. The only thing I've modded is a Bronco II, so.. Yeah, I'm definately no pro.
I basically just want to know where is the best place to start.
What is best on an '89 Civic, and such.
And yeah, it's an auto since I'm afraid of learning a manual.
Please help me make my first Civic badass :]

lol.... u sure are excited. let me be the first to welcome you...
the first thing you needa know is the car modding hobby is very expensive...VERY expensive...
anyways with that said, what is the goal for the car? speed? looks? every day drivability with some fun in it?
how much $$$ do u have to work with and willing to dispose?
personally, the first thing i would do is get suspension. it dramatically turns ur car into something else...it wont feel like a civic anymore...
feel free to ask anyting......but REMEMBER, to ALWAYS SEARCH BEFORE YOU MAKE A NEW THREAD w/ a QUESTION......because im sure it has been covered 100000000000x times

My goal is pretty much..
I want to keep this car a reasonable commuter.
But I want to have some fun with it.
And obviously, I want it to look good.
For an 89, it is spotless and in amazing condition.
It was only 1900, so I'm willing to
put a considerable amount of money into it.

Re: Got an '89 Civic last night. What next?
well, i would do a swap to give it a little more horse power.
a b16 will do fine. if no swap yet, go suspension to lower it and give it a better ride/handling (bcuz im sure a 89 has really crappy suspension if its still the original setup)
get a retrofit for it. it'll make ur night driving so much more fun =]

Put some sort of a new stereo in it if it hasn't been done already. It'll make all the squeaks and rattles go away.

Here's my new baby.
Super clean for an '89,
that's for sure.
Pretty much everything is original.
